First Acer Aspire Powered by NVIDIA Ion Targeted for Nettop Market

Previously we mentioned about the NVIDIA Ion first Pico-ITX Platform certified with WHDL, now seems that Acer, the Taiwanese famous PC maker has officially confirmed the next generation Aspire Revo as its first NVIDIA Ion-based solution with full HD (High Definition) media support targeted for nettop market.

The Aspire Revo will be powered by Intel Atom 230 processor, a thermally efficient processor with Hyper-threading technology, and further coupled with NVIDIA 9400M chipset that is claimed to be able to outperform both the Intel US15W combo chipset and relatively old 945GSE chipset in terms of graphics decoding capability. Theoretically, the new platform is projected to deliver 5 times much better graphics processing and up to 10 times much powerful hardware video decode capability as compared to Intel chipset solution. Some other feature sets include the 7.1 High Definition multi channel audio stream, a 250GB SATA based hard disk drive, 4GB SODIMM memory, wireless technologies, HDMI and VGA port for external display support and many more.

No pricing and availability yet, the new machine will be preloaded with Windows Vista Home Premium and with its advanced DirectX 10 graphics support, it is suitable to be used as a multimedia center in digital home.
